Getting to know Kevin Sin, Graduate Project Manager

What was your background before joining Aqua Consultants?

My background was within the life sciences, where I graduated with a BSc in biomedical science and worked for two years as a lab technician before pursuing my MSc in bioinformatics. After I completed my MSc, my first opportunity was at Aqua Consultants as a Graduate Project Manager.

What do you do at Aqua Consultants?

As a Graduate Project Manager, I have worked on several different projects ranging from storm overflows to draft determination with clients across the water and utilities sectors. My role so far has been quite varied, working as both a project manager and a data analyst depending on the needs of the project.

What excites you about coming to work?

The opportunity to tackle diverse and challenging projects that have a real impact on the environment and the community. I enjoy collaborating with a talented team and learning from experienced colleagues. The dynamic nature of my role, where I can switch between project management and data analysis, keeps me engaged and motivated.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, whether this be with good food, games, or just catching up. I pick up and put down hobbies based on my mood, but some of these include reading, creative writing, games, chess, and table tennis.

What are you looking forward to over the next 12 months?

I am looking forward to furthering my career development by completing the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification course. I am excited to reach my one-year milestone at Aqua Consultants, and to take on new challenges and continue growing both professionally and personally.

What is the biggest challenge you see in the environmental sector in the next 10 years?

Addressing climate change and its associated impacts. This includes managing water resources sustainably, reducing carbon emissions, and adapting to more frequent and severe weather events. The sector will need to innovate and collaborate across disciplines to develop effective solutions and mitigate the adverse effects on ecosystems and communities.
