Getting to know Louise Green, Project Manager

What was your background before joining Aqua Consultants?
I graduated from Lancaster University in 2008 with a BSc in geography.
After moving back to Leeds, I found it challenging to break into a relevant field due to the financial crash. I spent several years working in administration before becoming an office manager at an engineering consultancy.
In spring 2023, Neal Edmondson and Paige Jordan reached out to me on LinkedIn about a new role at Aqua Consultants and the rest is history!
What do you do at Aqua Consultants?
I work as Project Manager in the clients and partnerships team. I manage our sales & bids process and coordinate the sales community, as well as project-managing specific initiatives. I have also been responsible for internal communications and case studies. More recently, I have been helping with trialling Microsoft Copilot.
In September 2024 I started a project management apprenticeship degree at York St John University.
Since January 2024, I have been a member of the Institute of Water Northern Area Committee.
What excites you about coming to work?
From day one, Aqua Consultants has been really supportive of my development and I have loved the opportunity to grow my knowledge, develop project management skills, and be challenged to try new things.
Everyone is really friendly and knowledgeable, and I enjoy collaborating with people across all the service lines.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m outdoorsy and don’t like being stuck in the house. I am lucky to live in a rural area where I can do lots of walking. My friend and I are also trying to complete the Lake District Wainwrights; we have done about 70 so far! I have a road bike and like to cycle to cafes when the weather is decent. I also have weights, a rowing machine, and an exercise bike at home and try to do a workout a few times a week.
When I’m not trying to out-train a diet of cake, I do lots of reading and study Russian (which I’m fairly terrible at but it keeps the brain ticking over). I have a 3-year-old niece and enjoy spending time with my family.
I really enjoy travel and try to go on a few holidays a year as well as lots of day trips in the UK. A couple of years ago I started collecting patches from places I’ve visited and I sew them onto a blanket – the collecting is much more exciting than the sewing!
What are you looking forward to over the next 12 months?
I’m looking forward to new challenges in my role and passing my first year of university.
The business is growing rapidly, which means new opportunities are always around the corner. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next!
What is the biggest challenge you see in the environmental sector in the next 10 years?
It's tricky to predict, but I would like to see a focus on reversing biodiversity loss.
